Last Thursday (March 26th) Kanye “Ye” West threw a spur of the moment listening party in Atlanta, GA’s West Side. Given Kanye’s influence it’s no surprise the turnout was massive despite the 2-3 hour heads up. Given Kanye’s stature and Atlanta’s legendary group “PINKFLAMINGOUSA’s” stamp and attribution made the turnout a success. Per Kanye’s usual antics the actual event didn't start until about 12:30AM even though the doors opened at 10PM. The party was inside of a factory. Despite the late start the venue was filled with fast and exotic cars, beautiful women, fashion steppers, a fascinating set design, bar, and loud ambient music keeping folks entertained until the main event. The set design was that of a boxing ring with a see through cloth surrounding it while projectors played of a film of his son, Saint, hammering, with a literal (toy) hammer, wrestlers. The listening of “Bully” started at approximately 12:30AM with a referee entering the stage. Soon thereafter the wrestlers descended down from their private sector. Once emerged they entered the wring where a WWE like performance happened thought the entire play through of the album. The visuals were dramatic to say the least, full of slaps, kicks, stomps, and smack downs, it was an event to see.
Below is my video documentation of the full event from start to finish; no edits, no cut outs, only a color grade to match the visual language of “Bully”. Enjoy the 32 minute feature. Of course accompanied by photo-still imagery.
